GrowCaring for one another and cheering each other on
These are small groups of people who meet in various homes on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening. We worship, pray, read the Bible and support one another. Sometimes we share a meal together.
Currently, we are doing two courses:
'The Bible Course: Get The Big Picture', produced by The Bible Society helping you explore the Bible. https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/explore-the-bible/the-bible-course/
'Christianity Explored', which is an informal evangelistic teaching course developed at All Souls Church, Langham Place. Over seven sessions in Mark’s Gospel, you can find out more about the life of the person at the heart of the Christian faith - Jesus Christ. https://www.christianityexplored.org/
If you are interested in joining a course please speak to the Leadership Team.
Opportunities to Serve
There are always opportunities to serve in the church and community once people are established in the Church. We encourage our members to use their God-given talents to the full.
Prayer is very important to the life of Christ Church. There is time to pray during the worship.
We have prayer meetings every Thursday morning, 9-10am, and every other Sunday evening at 7.15pm.
Join our Internet Prayer Meeting via Zoom at 8.30pm on Monday evenings. To connect to the group, please contact Antony Norris by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 07908 112100. This is great for anyone, but especially those who cannot leave their home in the evenings for various reasons.
There is prayer available at the end of the morning service, and at Home Groups which run on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening. We offer prayer at our Toddler Group on a Monday morning and at 4Women, once a month, on a Monday evening.
If you would like to receive prayer and you are not yet coming to Christ Church, please ring the Church Office and we will get back to you.
A group from Christ Church attended this Cornish summer festival in 2019. The theme was Celebrating the Good News of a God who loves us. Proud to be a free-to-attend, gospel-centred festival. Free because they believe that the good news of a God who loves us should be freely shared, freely heard and free for all.
Overnight camping fees apply, day visitors are free. 2020 dates are now published as 1-7 August at the Royal Cornwall Events Centre, Wadebridge. More details https://creationfest.org.uk/
We have a student doing a degree at the Exeter Campus of ForMission in Theology and Mission. The degree is very practical, aimed at preparing students for working in churches, and they involve 13 hours per week of placement in a church. Our ForMission student is an intrinsic part of Christ Church.
A number of individuals and families have attended New Wine from Christ Church. New Wine exists to see local churches changing nations. For two weeks of the summer holidays, we head west for United, where we gather in our thousands to celebrate all God has been doing and continues to do in our lives. Upload is a huge party for young people at Exeter Cathedral. Over 1500 young people from across the South West descend on the Cathedral for an evening of quality entertainment, celebrating the Queen’s Birthday. It gives our young people a unique experience of Christian faith which they may want to explore further. This is now an annual event with an amazing line up of bands, sports and inflatables zones, gaming zones, chillout areas and loads more.
