Locally, besides the work with children and youth, members of the Church are working in the community in roles such as police chaplaincy, prison visiting, caring for trafficked women and in the local Open Doors project, which cares for the homeless. We actively support Exmouth Children's Centre by providing hampers for its clients at Christmas, Easter and Harvest and emergency funding.

Internationally, we have three members working with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Malawi

Tom and Sarah Haig

Tom and Sarah lived in Exmouth for six years where they met and ministered to young people out of Christ Church and in the Community College while doing theological studies. These were wonderful years for them both and Exmouth has a special place in their hearts. In 2013 Tom and Sarah got married at Christ Church and, following a clear call from the Lord, were sent out by their Christ Church family in 2015.

They are now working in Blantyre at the YWAM Base where they are involved in training young people through Discipleship Training Schools, developing the staff team of African and international missionaries and working with others to the reach the lost and broken with the love and truth of Jesus.

Malawi is regularly ranked amongst the world's poorest nations and faces many challenges, but there is a genuine hunger in many of the people for the things of God. Tom and Sarah are seeing God at work in wonderful ways.

Susanna Crow

Sooz is a woman with an amazing story to tell of how she became a Christian and the changes Jesus brought about in her life. In 2015 she went with a group from Christ Church on a 3-week visit to YWAM in Blantyre, realised that the Lord was calling her to be part of the permanent YWAM team - and didn't come back. An extract from an email from her in May 2018 gives a flavour of her personality and activities:

I am staff at YWAM BLANTYER MALAWI in central Africa. In the last four years I have trained in Foundation Counseling Ministries in Zambia, Leadership Training School Muizenburg Cape Town, and I am just about to complete a Children At Risk school Muizenberg Cape Town.

All the training has been through the University Of The Nations. My passions are children’s ministry and “Agogo” (old people) ministry. The main thing I do with our base is staffing Discipleship Training School once a year and taking our students on outreaches far and wide.

The school is for three months lecture phase and two month outreach phase. We come along side students helping them to proses what God is doing in their journey. God has given me a heart, vision and dream to pioneer ministries that will tackle keeping children and adults safe from Human Trafficking & helping keep Albinos alive. Making lives matter & changing mindsets. I hope to do an internship with the Child At Risk school while I am in Malawi.

I love worship and intersession on our base that we do Monday - Friday every morning. It helps me to start my day focused on what God wants us to do as He brinks His heaven to earth. His kingdom come as it is in heaven.
