About UsWe're a Bible-teaching church, where we prize the truth that has been revealed to us in the scriptures
Our Sunday service
Starts at 10.30am and lasts about 1.5 hours with our children joining us for the first part of it. Once a term we have all-age, café-style worship in which the children take a major role. Services are modern, led by one of our bands, with congregational participation in prayer, prophecy and scripture readings encouraged throughout. We have talented musicians with experienced worship leaders and carefully chosen music. Our worship is of great importance to us because we believe that good quality music honours God. The band members practice and pray together twice a month and welcome new members whose talents are of a sufficient standard.
The New Testament tells us to 'practice hospitality' so this is a key feature of our life together. We have tea and coffee both before and after the services and lunches and social events from time to time to give expression to this. Home Groups also play a major role here.
Every six weeks or so we have a 'Church Conversation' after the service, led by the Leaders, to discuss matters of concern. These discussions are honest, open and loving and play a big part in the trust which exists within the Church. Visitors are always welcome to stay to observe the discussions.
At Christ Church we take Breaking of Bread very seriously and celebrate it once per month. It is open to all Christian believers. We do not use a set liturgy but give different members of the congregation an opportunity to lead it in a way they see fit, provided it upholds the sacred nature of the service. Children are welcome to take part at the discretion of their parents.
Jesus said that 'My house shall be called a House of Prayer' so we also take prayer seriously and particularly encourage corporate prayer, which is a key part of our Vision. Every service allows room for people to pray out loud and twice a month we have formal intercessions, led by different members of the fellowship. We are developing a pattern of prayer during the week.
The church supports a football fellowship. Feel free to enquire via the church email if you would be interested.
We believe that well-maintained church buildings and well-kept gardens honour the Lord.
Our maintenance team works hard to achieve that - and its members enjoy themselves as they work together.
The Team welcomes new members who have skills to contribute.
